Former Nyakach MP Dennis Akumu is dead.
Akumu died early this morning while undergoing treatment at Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi.
He served his first term as a KANU MP, and later vied successfully under the Ford Kenya party ticket.
Akumu served as an MP for two terms, between 1969 to 1973 and later 1992 to 1997.
He served as COTU secretary general between 1969 through 1975 and was the founder Secretary General of the Organisation of African Trade Union Unity, OATUU based in Accra.
Cotu secretary general Francis Atwoli eulogised Akumu terming him as a devoted unionis

It is great regreat to announce the death of my lovely husband who has gone to rest with God. Hon. James Dennis Akumu (Jakogero_ chuth Ber) lost his dear life Thursday 2.25am at Agakhan Hospital Nairobi. He was a two time Nyakach constituency mp in 1969_1973KANU during one party state and between 1992_1997 on Ford Kenya ticket. James Dennis Akumu also served as COTU Secretary general in Kenya and then served in the same capacity in Africa Trade union with its head office in Accra Ghana. May my husband’s soul rest in peace amen.
