Budalang’i Member of Parliament Ababu Namwamba has resigned as ODM Secretary General.
Speaking at the Masinde Muliro University, Budalang’i Campus, Namwamba said he will make an official announcement in Nairobi.
He has also noted that he will tender his resignation letter next week.
Namwamba resigned from a position together with a section of grassroots leaders of ODM in Budalang’i.
His resignation comes barely a week after the party’s vice chair Paul Otuoma resigned from his position.
Namwamba had also accused his party of giving him a raw deal by making him a ‘powerless’ Secretary General.
He has also been facing sharp criticism from a section of ODM leaders who have consistently accused him of failing to execute his mandate including skipping the recent Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) protests seeking the disbandment of the electoral body.
On Sunday, lawyer Edwin Sifuna said that Namwamba’s exit from ODM was long overdue terming him as a Jubilee ‘mole’.
Sifuna, speaking on Citizen TV’s Sunday Live show, further accused Namwamba of failing to offer the necessary leadership to the opposition party.
Today’s meeting was an all ‘WHITE-TOP’ Meeting and Hon Ababu Namwamba is captured on clear photos dancing while holding a cooking stick, stirring debate on social media if his much anticipated new political party symbol will be ‘a cooking stick’ with WHITE as the party colours. Rice and Ugali are white and makes sense for political messaging- Putting food on table …..
