Breaking : GSU block Joho from accessing the #SGR function at Miritini, Mombasa.
Governor Joho will address the media at the scene.
Reports indicated that the governor was blocked from accessing the venue by security officials.
GSU officers were seen arguing with the governor at the Miritini gate while the launch of the Railway had kicked off.
Speaking to local media via Phone, Joho’s PA John Chacha who confirmed the incident claimed security officials were following “orders from above”.
The President will officially launch SGR operations at Port Riz.
As one pundit noted yesterday:
Failure to involve the County Government of Mombasa in the SGR launching ceremony demonstrates President Uhuru’s disdain for constitutionally sanctioned devolved system of government.
There are Jubilee functions. And there are government functions. The two are quite different and must remain so. Government functions and services must involve everyone, in a mutually respectful arrangement. Nothing for Mombasa, without Mombasa!
