The High Court has issued an order stopping the arrest and prosecution of Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho for failure to surrender his guns.
Justice George Odunga suspended Interior CS Joseph Nkaissery’s decision to revoke Joho’s firearm license and confiscate his guns pending the determination of his application.
He said in a ruling on Tuesday that the Cabinet Secretary’s action was “an illegality amid excess jurisdiction”. Governor Joho was represented by senior counsel James Orengo and Moses Masika Wetangula who led a dozen of other advocates in court.
