The Co-operative Bank Foundation has officially inducted 56 top-performing students into its 14th Annual Pre-University Induction Program under its long-running Education Scholarship Program.
The event, held this week, marks a significant milestone in the foundation’s commitment to expanding access to education for talented but financially disadvantaged students across Kenya.
Since the program’s launch in 2007, the Co-op Bank Foundation has supported over 11,000 students through secondary school, with a remarkable 96% completion rate and more than 90% successfully transitioning to university.

Speaking at the induction ceremony, Mr. Samuel Kibugi, Company Secretary at Co-operative Bank, reaffirmed the institution’s dedication to empowering the next generation of Kenyan leaders.
“We remain committed to supporting bright and needy students through every step of their academic journey,” said Mr. Kibugi. “Education is one of the most impactful ways we can uplift communities and invest in the future of our country.”
The scholarship program continues to be one of the largest corporate-backed education initiatives in Kenya. Beneficiaries receive full sponsorship for tuition, uniforms, books, and upkeep throughout their academic period — from secondary school to university.
The 14th induction comes at a time when many families across the country are struggling to afford quality education due to rising costs and economic uncertainty. Co-operative Bank’s sustained investment in education underscores its role not just as a financial institution, but as a key partner in national development.
The 56 newly inducted students are expected to begin their university studies later this year, joining a growing alumni network of empowered youth making a mark in various fields across Kenya and beyond.
