Interior PS Karanja Kibicho’s ‘fake’ Harambee contribution angered DP Ruto and Sonko
It has now emerged that Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho has been misusing funds from the Office of the President by sending contributions to Harambees disguised as President Uhuru Kenyatta’s donations.
The latest incident by Kibicho was on Sunday when he sent Sh1m to Senator Beth Mugo to contribute as the President’s contribution despite the presence of Deputy President William Ruto who is supposed to hand over the president’s contribution as required by protocol.
The incident which happened at the PCEA Evergreen Church in Runda, angered Ruto and Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko who was also present.
However to prove Senator Beth Mugo was actually not sent by the President, a representative from State House came to the church and handed over Sh2m from the President as his donation to an official who heads protocol at the DP’s office.
The DP went ahead and gave the President’s donation in the church Harambee where over Sh20m was raised. Ruto gave a personal donation of Sh3m, President’s donation of Sh2m, while Governor Sonko contributed Sh1m.
