Supreme court Judges- Former Cabinet Minister Raphael Tuju has fired a scathing letter at the Supreme Court of Kenya (SCoK), accusing some of its judges of reckless rulings, impunity, and public drunkenness. He warns that their irresponsible decisions are pushing Kenya toward instability.
Supreme Court’s 2022 Election Ruling: A Dangerous Precedent Tuju tears into the Supreme Court’s handling of the 2022 presidential election petition, calling out the judges for using dismissive and inflammatory language such as “hot air” and “wild goose chase.” He says this reckless wording poured fuel on the fire in an already divided country.
Comparing Kenya’s situation to pre-Civil War America, where judicial rulings fueled unrest, Tuju warns that the Supreme Court’s arrogance could plunge Kenya into chaos. He reminds the judges that Kenya is still in the fragile phase of nation-building and that their careless rulings could lead to state failure, like in Somalia or South Sudan.
Judges Serving Bank Interests, Ignoring Justice? Tuju calls out the Supreme Court for bias in his land dispute case over a 27-acre Karen property. He says judges ruled in favor of a bank without giving him a fair hearing. Worse, they justified their decision by suggesting he could be compensated later if he won the case. Tuju calls this logic immoral and a direct assault on property rights.
He also exposes how top lawyers, including Senior Counsel Githu Muigai, manipulate the system for their own benefit. As a former Attorney General, Muigai allegedly passed laws that now help his private clients win legal battles. Tuju paints a picture of a judiciary controlled by corrupt lawyers and power-hungry judges.
Drunk Judges? Tuju Demands Answers Tuju drops the bombshell that four out of seven Supreme Court judges have been seen drunk in public. He offers to provide video evidence of these judges making incoherent statements while intoxicated. He questions how Kenyans can trust the highest court when its judges are out drinking instead of upholding justice.

Drunk Supreme Court Judges? Tuju Blows the Whistle on Judiciary Rot
He demands accountability, asking Chief Justice Martha Koome how she allows such disgraceful conduct. He challenges the Judiciary to clean up its act and restore dignity to the courts.
Land Grabbing and Judicial Corruption Tuju insists that his Karen land was legally acquired and not linked to corruption or public funds. However, he reveals a network of corrupt lawyers, auctioneers, and officials who conspire to steal private property through fraudulent court rulings. He accuses the Supreme Court of aiding this criminal racket.
He says the court’s decision to back this injustice proves that judicial corruption is alive and well. If a high-profile figure like him can be robbed of his property, what chance does the ordinary Kenyan have?
Judicial Impunity Must End Tuju warns that Supreme Court judges are shielding themselves from accountability by undermining the Judicial Service Commission (JSC), the body responsible for overseeing judicial conduct. He calls this a direct attack on Kenya’s Constitution.
He reminds Chief Justice Koome that no judge is above the law and demands immediate action to clean up the Judiciary. The era of untouchable judges must end.
Can Kenyans Trust Their Supreme Court? Tuju’s shocking allegations expose deep cracks in Kenya’s Judiciary. The big question now is: Can Kenyans trust their top judges if they are corrupt, biased, and drunk in public? Should the Supreme Court continue wielding unchecked power when its decisions shape the country’s future?
Tuju’s letter has thrown the Judiciary into the spotlight, and all eyes are now on Chief Justice Koome. Will she act, or will she let the rot continue?
