Ekuru Aukot slams Hon. Aden Duale for sabotaging Punguza Mizigo Bill

Date:

Thirdway Alliance Party Leader Ekuru Aukot has slammed National Assembly Leader Aden Duale over his involvement in sabotaging the progress of Punguza Mizigo Bill.

Speaking to Citizen Tv’s Newsnight show, the 2017 Presidential candidate bashed the MP saying he is opposing the bill in favour of his personal interest that is anchored on the wellbeing of powerful political systems.

“Duale is so simplistic in his thinking, he is a guy who sucks up to the system for survival, I’m bigger than that kind of thinking; I look at Kenya…” said Aukot.

Duale has been opposing the Punguza Mizigo Bill on the ground that it seeks to reduce the number of counties and constituencies saying it is disadvantaging the minority community where he comes from.

The legislator has however been advocating for a parliamentary system of the government saying it is suitable in eradicating ethnicity, political polarization and efficient in passing legislation.

“With a Parliamentary Democracy, all parties are forced to work harmoniously together and for the majority group to be constantly challenged, not trying to please specific groups to gain support,” he tweeted.

Despite the harsh reception the bill has received in the County Assemblies, the Thirdway Alliance leader is boastful of the major strides they have made in the political history of this country.

“This is the biggest success story in Kenya for the last 55 years, no political party has done what we have done; we are only three years old as a political party,” said the Thirdway Alliance party leader.

The Punguza Mizigo Bill has only been endorsed in one county assembly, Uasin Gishu, with others yet to discuss it.
