Reliable sources have confirmed to this writer that the family and doctors of the former president Mwai Kibaki are considering to fly him out to England or South Africa for further medical attention. South Africa is preferred mainly because it’s closer (4 hours duration direct flight) unlike London that takes at least 8 hours.
Former President Mwai Kibaki is hospitalised at Karen hospital after he fell ill at his Muthaiga residence in Nairobi.
Former head of Public service during Kibaki’s tenure ambassidor Muthaura was also admitted in South African back in 2014, he was dicharged after a few days and he is now back with full health carrying out his regular duties.
President Uhuru Kenyatta is among those who have visited the former president. Kibaki’s former coalition co-principal Raila Odinga has been briefed but was in Mombasa and information is that he will visit him any time from now.
Kibaki served as Kenya’s President for slightly over 10 years from 2002 to 2013, he was succeeded by the incumbent Uhuru Kenyatta via a controversial Supreme Court ruling.
