French President Emmanuel Macron took a slap to the face from a man while visiting a region in southern France on Tuesday.
While leaving a high school in the French department of Drôme, the president approached a group of apparent supporters at a gate. There, a man yelled “à bas la Macronie,” or “down with Macronia,” and slapped him in the face. The man was swiftly swarmed by security.
Video of the slap circulated on social media Tuesday and was confirmed by the French government to local mediato be authentic.

According toLe Figaro, two people were arrested by police after the incident.
