EALA MP Hon Simon Mbugua has been arrested over links to hired goons that attacked Nairobi Business Community Chairman Timothy Muruiki at a Nairobi hotel
Mbugua is being held at the central police station for grilling
The goons disrupted and attacked Mr Muriuki when he was holding a news conference at Hotel Boulevard in support of Governor Sonko.
The National Police Service on Saturday offered a Sh2.5 million cash reward for information that will lead to the arrest of the five men who assaulted Muriuki.
Mbugua is regarded along City Hall corridors as the powerful figure behind the governor’s throne and that makes the arrest a mockery since Mbugua supports Sonko and Muriuki ‘s press statement was also in support of Sonko.
There will be no evidence linking EALA MP Simon Mbugua to the crime for which he has been arrested. The IG should stop hoodwinking us and arrest the culprits seen in broad daylight, in respect of whom he offered a hefty bounty.

Word on the street is that some Harambee house bureaucrats are using the unfortunate incident to harass Governor Sonko’s core team and key supporters of whom Mbugua is seen as a cornerstone.
“I am a great friend to Governor Mike Sonko. I have never in any way meddled in the operations of the county,” Mbugua was once quoted as saying.
