IDPs Camping Outside Parliament are Testimony that Raila was RIGHT, Uhuru Must Implement TJRC Report

This afternoon, I passed by parliament. I saw about 50 men and women and their children, with blankets and mats, and it seems they have been camping there for sometime. Apparently, they were the IDPs, who had gone to Uganda, who now want some form of compensation. Earlier on, I heard on the radio that they wanted to march to State House, but they were stopped. So back to parliament, outside, they camped.

I hope, they will be compensated. Being a refugee, when your country is fully functional, even worse, in Kenya, your ‘peoples’ are in power can be grueling.

These people are a stark reminder of the unfinished business from 2007. The president, his deputy and those high up the ladder may have gotten off the hook, but the underlying issues are still unaddressed.

Until, we confront the past, we implement the TJRC report, the Ndung’u land report and other historical horrors and nightmares addressed, the carpet will soon become too thin to sweep all the dirt and it will start stinking.
When I used to drink with Shakespeare, he would often pause and tell me, “Silas, the TRUTH will Out” (sic)

The Truth always finds its way out, no matter how much the middle-class and the elite may want to bank on our collective amnesia. PR will not address this. An honest engagement with our past, some of the people who made their wealth, agreeing to lose it, fairly, and such will be a better way.

Because the alternative is ugly.
