The Kipsigis Council of Elders has called on Deputy President William Ruto to respect its leaders following allegations that he has constantly attacked Bomet Governor, Isaac Ruto.
Led by their vice chairman, William Ketienya, the elders claimed that the DP’s attack on the Bomet Governor, who decamped from the Jubilee Party to his new political outfit, Mashinani Party of Kenya, were ill timed and did not go well with the community.
He claimed that the DP has formed a habit of insulting leaders who are not in the Jubilee Party whenever he visits the vote-rich South Rift region. The elders, speaking to Chamgei FM, on Wednesday, October 12, want the DP to show respect and desist from insults in the future.
“The community is not going to benefit in any way if the leaders continue to engage in politics of insults, they need to look for an agreeable solution to their differences and work together as a team,” said Ketieny.
He warned that the continued differences between the Rift Valley leaders may split the communities living in the region.
While attending a church service at the St. Theresa Catholic Church in Mogogosiek, Konoin on Sunday, the DP told off the Bomet Governor over what he termed as a deliberate move to mislead the community
