Former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero has hinted at his intentions to make a major political comeback in 2022.
The former county chief on Wednesday September 9, 2020 told journalists that he was considering making a political comeback albeit not in Nairobi.
Kidero is not considering Nairobi due to the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) that is set to give Nairobi a different status should it be passed.
“I was born and brought up here in Nairobi. I went to school and lived all my life in the city but if the BBI proposal carries the day, I will consider running in Kiambu or Kajiado which are within the Nairobi Metropolitan Area or shift base to Mombasa or Kisumu Counties,” he explained.
Governor Mike Sonko might also shift his contesting ground to a different region.
Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has urged the embattled Sonko to consider Machakos County should he make a decision to shift his political ground, since governor Alfred Mutua who his serving his second and last term is now eyeing for Presidency.

With Nairobi’s key functions being handed from the governor to the Nairobi Metropolitan Services under Major General Mohamed Badi, the city might be run without a governor after the looming constitutional changes are finally effected.
