Kidero men block Sonko from accessing City Hall Accounts
Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko is a frustrated man days after taking over at City Hall from former bad boy Evans Kidero.
Sources at City Hall indicate that the new Nairobi County Government Chief Revenue Officer has been unable to access the County’s bank accounts at Cooperative Bank City Hall branch after the bank reportedly blocked the account.
According to City Hall officials who requested for anonymity due to confidentiality of the matter, the account was blocked by Kidero’s former henchmen at Cooperative Bank, City Hall branch led by a Mrs Charity who is a close ally of Kidero.
“Charity is a well-known businesswoman and I am told she’s behind the incident at the bank. We suspect they are working with Kidero to frustrate Sonko or maybe they want to swindle funds from the City Hall accounts then later blame Sonko for financial mismanagement,” said our source at City Hall.
“She used to send Kidero Sh5m for every political harambee the former Governor used to attend to entice him in order to offer back lucrative tenders from City Hall. I suspect now they are behind the move to block the City Hall accounts,” said the source.
