Panic has gripped Jubilee coalition aspirants for the Nairobi Governor’s seat after Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko started erecting giant billboards for his 2017 Nairobi Gubernatorial bid.
The move has sent shockwaves in the Maina Kamanda camp which is fronting the colourless Mt Kenya MP’s Chair Dennis Waweru to be the Jubilee coalition Candidate in the Nairobi Governor’s race.
Bishop Margaret Wanjiru and TNA Chair Johnstone Sakaja are among the top TNA aspirants who are also eyeing the seat in 2017.
Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero who has been blamed for non performance by most Nairobi residents is believed to have been convinced that Sonko will shift his base to Machakos in 2017 but now with the recent developments, Kidero is back to square one since he had planned to face Waweru in the 2017 race.
Meanwhile opponents of Sonko engaged in mass voter importation during the recently concluded IEBC voter registration exercise. It’s believed Kidero hired SONU Chairman Babu Owino to import the voters from up country to come and ensure he retains his seat.
