THREE persons dressed in bui bui have been shot dead and a police officer injured following an attempted attack at Central Police Station in Mombasa Sunday morning.
The two women, wearing hijab, were shot dead on the spot by police as they reportedly attacked officers at the station in a botched attempt to release a terror suspect from cell.
One officer was reportedly stabbed and has been rushed to hospital for emergency treatment as a major security operation involving officers from General Service Unit continues.
A witness claims three women brandished knives after they were barred from accessing the cells with one throwing a petrol bomb in an attempt to burn down the station prompting police to shoot.
General Service Unit (GSU) officers immediately cordoned off the police station.
