One thing you can almost be certain of is the inherent hypocrisy of Mt Kenya Mafia.
Trust them to literally accuse others of the very things they love doing, trust them to mount a shameless campaign against you if you are not one of them or user friendly.
Well, remember late 80s and 90s? They vigorously opposed the then president Daniel Moi accusing him of all manner of evil including tribalism, corruption and dictatorship among others. Fast forward to 2002 to date and any sober Kenyan will confirm that under Kibaki and Uhuru regimes, tribalism became institutionalized, corruption is now a pillar in our governance system.
If you follow keenly the war of words between Governor Sonko and PS Karanja Kibicho one gets a feeling that the anti-Sonko campaign being run by Nation Media Group via Daily Nation and all her affiliate online platforms is nothing but ‘cartels fighting back’ over lost opportunity to loot.
Mt Kenya cartels are ever so entitled, they are okay with at least one of them eating than a freeze on corruption for public good. They are bitter Sonko has not given them a free hand to rape the coffers of the city county government. Governor Kidero was by far good to the cartels for he gave them a free hand to run the show and that is how he lost the confidence of Nairobians in last years general election.
Whereas Kibicho may be having one or two things against Sonko, it’s obvious that city godfather and nominated MP Hon Kamanda and other cartels are behind the smear campaign.
Nation Media Group is controlled by Mt Kenya mafia and one wonders why the newspaper spends acres of real estate to discredit Sonko who has been in office for just eight months. Why not other counties where we have a corruption is order of the day? Why not question Uhuru who has been in power for 6 years yet our economy is in tatters? Why is NMG never asking hard questions on national government’s corruption scandals responsible for grounding the country? Where was NMG when garbage and hawkers menance was a crisis? Is it coz Kidero allowed them to co-loot/co-sharing the loot?
Nation Media Group editorial team is being unprofessional, only a fool will expect governor Sonko to posses magic power to fix all city problems in just 8 months given the rot that has been going on since independence. Even the procurement processes takes months to get a contractor on site after-which implementation begins. Sonko must be a magician to go round all procurement bureaucracy to fix roads in the entire city, fix healthcare, fix pollution, fix Matatu/hawkers etc within the few months he has been in charge.
Well, in the end City Hall Cartels propaganda will backfire as the real work by governor Sonko is tangible and Nairobians will call bluff on their sponsored propaganda pieces running on NMG and other mainstream media.
The cartels should move their tricks to national government where they have a free hand to sale containers costing as low as 250k for 10millions to make a killing. Let Mt Kenya mafia keep off city hall for Nairobians to get services.
Dear Nation Media Group, kindly keep an eye on Uhuru government too and other counties, we are tired reading looooooong boring cheap editorials about Sonko, give the City governor a break. We know the aim is to put pressure on Sonko to resign and get one of your own easily now that Raila is enjoying the handshake moment. But be bold and professional enough and tells us about Garbage in Mombasa, Corruption Kiambu, Trans Zoia, Muranga and stalled Nyeri, Kirinyaga and Embu counties. Tells us the miracles in Makueni and Kisumu and not the sinema stories of Machakos, We Are Tired !
