What we need from Uhuru during his visit – Ojaamong
Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong has listed the goodies they expect from President Uhuru Kenyatta when he visits the County later in the month.
Addressing the press in his office, Ojaamong said they expect President Kenyatta to award Alupe University a charter to give Busia County the first fully fledged university.
” We are hoping that the President will commission the tarmacking of the Busia-Malaba-Lwakhakha road which has remained a pipe dream for decades to the detriment of the region’s economy.
We are hoping that the president will lay foundation stone for the 3km Sigiri bridge which is linking the northern part of Bunyala and south at Bubango and Khainga,” he said.
The Governor said he hopes the President will also commission the construction of Mulwanda border point bridge in Samia whose completion will open up another entry point between Kenya and Uganda.
Ojaamong said he expects President Kenyatta to offer people from the region job opportunities in the National Government to enable us also enjoy the national cake.
” Busia is among the poorest counties in the country and yet they are discriminated in terms of job opportunities which only favour a few communities in the country,” he said.
Ojaamong said he is ready to work with the National Government on areas which will benefit his people. “I invite Uhuru to bring development to my people and nobody should think I am against him.”
He said whoever wins the Presidency next year will be judged by the people and not bookmakers. ” If Uhuru is popular with the people he will carry the day and vice versa and not Ipsos using a few people to dupe Kenyans.
