With the unveiling of the new campaign nerve centre and the fuel guzzling sports utility vehicles, the Jubilee government inadvertently overdosed on their own PR prescription medicine.
A government that has consistently served Kenyans with a steady dose of PR finally found a way to overplay its hands. In vintage fashion, it’s PR-obsessed political operatives saw an opportunity to exude political dominance and an aura of invincibility, but what they got was chilling reminder of the sorry state of affairs in the very country that they want to continue leading.
CORD impresario and ODM headhoncho, Raila Odinga, set the ball rolling with a quick reminder of a conveniently forgotten Jubilee manifesto! Odinga is taking them to task over a menu of promises that they made during the campaigns but have since been relegated to the museums.
Since Jubilee wants to show Kenyans that they are the outfit to beat and its clear that they are pulling all the stops in order to make that happen, it is now CORD’s responsibility to punch Jubilee where it hurts the most. And here are easy targets that CORD can use in hammering this political Goliath to it’s deathbed.
PR has never been a substitute for governance and Jubilee is exhibit A. Despite the daily dose of PR, power blackouts are still the new normal in the country. No amount of Meter installation photos can save Jubilee from indictment.
Education is still an area that needs serious attention and Jubilee’s record on this is something else. If they were not intimidating teachers, they were ignoring court orders. Jubilee now holds the infamous record as the only adminstration to ever preside over record school closures. Reason? Because they felt like it!
CORD must highlight the fact that in just four years, Jubilee has presided over the BIGGEST scandals in the history of the Republic. Kenyatta Snr, Moi and Kibaki must really hate themselves for they had no clue on how to siphon taxpayers money. Thanks to Jubilee, future Presidents now have a template!
Healthcare is a forgotten chapter and the sight of the JAP headquarters with big fuel guzzlers is the biggest joke of the century considering the fact that hospitals are in pathetic shape and ambulances ceased to exist ! Oh but there is a lot of money to buy campaign sports utility vehicles! Talk about misplaced priorities.
Whoever came up with the idea to parade the big cars and the posh campaign headquarters must have forgotten the living conditions of the men and women of the ‘utumishi kwa wote’ or the fact that our law enforcement officers have no vehicles.
Well, all CORD has to do is tee-off on Jubilee with the aforementioned points and watch the clueless political GOLIATH hit the ground in a thunderous thud.
