ODM Director of Elections Hon Junet Mohamed has condemned the violent chaos that rocked the Senator Moses Wetangula’s presidetial launch in Kakamega today. Hon Junet spoke at JKIA on arrival from India where he has been taking care of his father Mzee Sheik Nur Mohammed who underwent an operation.
Hon Junet made a brief appearance in Malindi during the campaigns for area MP Hon Willy Baraka Mtego but later missed much of the action that followed in the run-up to the by-election. He has been in India for about 4 weeks as his father went through a heart procedure. Mzee Mohammed is now fully recovered.
Hon Junet thanked Kenyans for the prayers and get well messages.
The return of Junet promises a heightened political activity in the Orange party, it is expected that Prime Minister Raila Odinga will make a return to the Northern Frontier districts. Junet works well in a tag team together with other loyalists in the party like deputy party leader Hassan Joho, fellow MPs, Senators, governors and Party secretariat.
Junet returns at the critical time when the party is under siege from Jubilee, much of the current issues will require political solution rather than judicial process. The suspension of Ugunja MP Hon Opiyo Wandanyi from Parliament for 10 months is one such event that will require a quick political solution.
“We are in solidarity with Hon Wandayo on the matter of suspension from the house/parliament by Speaker Muturi, we will petition the powers and privileges committee of the house to review the speakers ruling ofcourse after consulting our party lawyers “Hon Junet said upon arrival at the JKIA.
When Jubilee MPs stormed a committee hearing then grilling CS Anne Waiguru, Speaker Justin Muturi did not sanction them yet their actions breached parliamentary rules. In fact, when the same Opiyo Wandayi was grilling Waiguru, Jubilee MPs ejected him out. He didn’t complain.
Mombasa Women Rep the other day was locked out of a committee meeting by President Uhuru’s guards. Because ODM did not protest, that too Speaker Muturi didn’t comment on. It has been reported that Hon Opiyo Wandayi’s staff in parliament have been withdrawn and his office locked.
