Workers who participated in a Dettol and Harpic project organized by Daraja Plus Agency in early January are raising serious concerns over unpaid wages. More than a month has passed, yet their dues remain unsettled.
Many of the affected workers say their repeated attempts to get answers from the agency have been ignored. Complaints posted in a dedicated group platform are deleted almost immediately by the administrators. Some workers who persist in demanding payment claim they are removed from the group altogether.
Workers Speak Out
One affected worker, who requested anonymity, reached out for help, saying:
“Early January, we did a Dettol and Harpic project for Daraja Plus Agency. After the project ended, they took back even the uniforms. Now they don’t want to pay us. It’s been over a month, and every time we ask, we get no response. When someone asks in the group, the message gets deleted by the admins. If anyone insists, they are removed from the group. It’s like they want to avoid paying us completely, yet we have bills to pay—rent, school fees, and other daily expenses.”
Others echoed the same frustrations, accusing the agency of taking advantage of their labor and then refusing to pay them for their work.
The Silence from Daraja Plus Agency
Despite multiple attempts to get a response, Daraja Plus Agency has remained silent. Workers have tried reaching out through various means, including direct messages, calls, and the group platform, but their efforts have been met with resistance.
- Messages inquiring about payments are deleted.
- Workers who ask repeatedly are removed from the group.
- No official communication from the agency addressing the concerns.
This has left many struggling to cover essential expenses. With mounting rent arrears, school fees deadlines, and basic needs to meet, the delayed payments have caused significant financial strain on the workers.
Is This a Pattern?
This is not the first time workers have accused an agency of withholding payments. Several marketing and promotions firms have faced similar allegations in the past. The pattern is familiar—workers complete a project, payments are delayed, and when they push for their money, they are ignored or silenced.
The lack of proper enforcement mechanisms in such cases often leaves workers with little to no recourse. Many fear speaking out openly, worried that they might be blacklisted from future jobs.
What Can Workers Do?
Given the growing frustration, affected workers are considering the following steps:
- Public Exposure: Many are calling for those affected to speak up and share their experiences widely to pressure the agency into paying.
- Legal Action: Some are exploring the possibility of filing a formal complaint with relevant labor authorities.
- Collective Action: Organizing as a group to demand accountability from Daraja Plus Agency.
Will Daraja Plus Agency Respond?
The silence from the agency raises serious questions about its financial integrity and treatment of workers. If the accusations are true, this is an unacceptable exploitation of labor.
Will Daraja Plus Agency finally break its silence and address the complaints? Or will it continue to ignore the voices of those who worked hard on the project?
As the pressure builds, the affected workers are determined to seek justice and ensure they receive what they are owed. The agency’s response—or lack thereof—will determine what happens next.
